When I was in high school, my best friend moved away, so she and I started sharing a journal a la The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Every few months I’d get a package from her in the mail and eagerly pore over the pages, soaking up all the news from her life. It’s a habit we kept up for almost 15 years, and one that’s kept us as close as we were the day her family moved. 

Is there magic in our notebook? Nah. But there is time, and lots of love. Seeing her handwriting and reading her messages made me feel connected to her in a way texting or email could never rival. It was a sign that I mattered. And that’s a feeling I’m dedicated to recreating with each calligraphy piece I craft for you.
